I had my appointment with my MP’s office this afternoon. They were really nice and although I had my doubts, proved to be quite helpful. I’ve been told to let it go for now and leave the whole citizenship card matter in their hand. As their hands are probably quite a lot more capable than mine, I feel good about that. We shall see. Supposedly I’ll get a phone call by Tuesday with any information they have gleaned.
Read this on a friends Live Journal and thought it was funny. Police dog runs over woman?
And now for something completely different:
I am dying to go to the zoo. The Toronto Zoo. I have been bugging my friends for the better part of two years now and I have still not been to the zoo. The last time I was there was, I think, in 1995. That’s too long to go without seeing my favourite animals; tapirs and penguins. Tapirs are these absolutely adorable creatures that are unfortunately close to extinction. They are related to rhinos and horses, and I suppose to describe one, you could say they look like anteaters with great sniffly snouts. Ever since I was a little kid and my mother took me to see then at Chester Zoo (wonderful zoo in the city I grew up in) I have loved them. There are four different species of tapir and all fascinating animals dangerously near becoming phased out.
You can read more about the Tapirs plight here. And penguins. Yes, I also love penguins. When I was a kid, I calculated a sneaky plan (as I am often known to do) to make my father get me a pet penguin. He humoured me for a while and then told me that England wasn’t cold enough for penguins. I retaliated by telling him about the penguins that live in New Zealand. They nest underground to keep cool, so I figured we could did up the yard, lay a concrete foundation underneath so they couldn’t get out and escape, and that me and my penguins could live happily ever after in the back yard. He of course had no retort to the logic I had presented him with, but it still didn’t get me my pet penguins! Bear in mind, I was only about eight, but I still think that was a hell of an argument for an eight year old to come up with!
Point being, I need to go to the zoo and someone better take me soon! I’ve been trying to convince the RCMP as it’s quite a good moped ride from here, and I think a day trip to the zoo on mopeds would be great. I haven’t been taking as many photos lately as I normally like to, in fact barely any since I got home from Ireland, and I have this overwhelming urge to photograph the giant eyelashes of giraffes.
