First I would just like to say YEAH! YEAH! Oh, and, YEAH!! If you can’t tell, I am ecstatic about the mid-term election results. Finally, the Americans came out to vote and their votes counted. The Democrats have two years ahead of them to work hard and make things right, and maybe the Republican reign of terror will be over.
I started my new job today, and had a pretty good first day. I enjoy the work, I’m good at it, and the people in the office all seem quite nice. I’m still not thrilled about the commute, but I suppose most people have to do it so I’ll have to suck it up. It’s just that it turns my eight hour day into a ten hour one and I’m not happy about that. Neither is my dog. She was quite grumpy when I got home this evening. The other thing I don’t like is that there’s no window in the part of the office I’m in, and there are flourescent lights so by the time I got out of there I was desperate for fresh air. But all in all I had a pretty good day. We’ll see how it goes.
The other night was not nearly so nice. I posted this on the RCMP blog, and I’m too lazy to tell it again, so here it is from there:
Today was a lovely day for a moped ride. I met up with some friends, and on my way home went to stop at the IGA to pick up some dog food. A cop had been following me for about 8 blocks and he pulled me over in the parking lot. Of course, I had forgotten to renew my sticker in September, and, being a smarty-pants, had left my ownership and insurance slip at home. The results are as follows:
Sticker out of date = $110
Failure to produce ownership = $110
Failure to produce insurance slip = $70
Grand total = $290 and an hour long lecture.
Good job Lindsay. Anyway, I spent all day yesterday between my insurance broker, the police station and the courthouse. I’ll get a notice for a court date in about seven months and probably go to court in a year. It’s ok, I’m going to fight it, and as long as I show up I will probably be excused or only have to pay a very small amount. I just don’t want to be convicted of anything because I’m already having a hard enough time getting car insurance. I must say, I really do have fantastic timing when it comes to these things.

We had a Chicks Ahoy! team meeting that went really well last night. We’ve made some great decisions about practices, team morale is way up, and we’re going to get little anchor tattoos! We’ve got a website in the works, a short film in the works, and all kinds of exciting things are happening. We’ve got our uniform shirts ordered and are planning a Christmas party fundraiser at Ciao Edie. It’s going to be awesome. In the meantime, there is another awesome roller derby fundraiser going on. The lovely Mistress Nightmare and her partner at Fable House are putting on a wicked show on Sunday, November 19th. It’s called Roller Suicide and will be full of Rollergirls and Suicide Girls. And yes, there will be demonstrations. Anyone in Toronto, come on out and support the ToRD. Tickets are available in advance for $10 or at the door for $15. I have some for sale if anybody’s interested.
I feel like I have a lot of news and a ton of stuff left to post but I’m going to bed. Good night.
Those Suicide Girls are very fine! I’m jealous.
Oh, and another “yeah” from me too, about the outcome of the votes!
